Blue-collar, punk rock has seen a rise to prominence in recent years and at the forefront is Flint, Michigan’s The Swellers. And now, the quartet are set to return to Australia for the second time this October, coinciding with the 10 year anniversary of the band’s existence.

FAT WRECK CHORDS five piece punk band POUR HABIT all the way from Compton, California who first appeared on Australian shores back in 2009 supporting label mates NOFX and punk rock heavyweights BAD RELIGION are returning once again in December.

Novemeber will see a return to our shores by Make Do And Mend together with Touche Amore. Both bands were out here last year, with Make Do And Mend on the Soundwave Counter Revolution lineup, while Touche Amore toured with Title Fight.

The first installment of bands have been announced for SOUNDWAVE 2013 with METALLICA headlining the festival. Other highlights include Anthrax, Madball, Vision Of Disorder, Shai Hulud, Lucero, The Lawrence Arms and Dragonforce.

This Is Albatross recently caught up with Popeye Vogelsang formerly of FARSIDE and currently in YOUR FAVOURITE TRAINWRECK to talk about both bands. This is a great retrospective history of FARSIDE including the involvment of Zach De La Rocha, why the band broke up as well as a video interview as Popeye explains what a few classic FARSIDE songs were actually about.

The Smith Street Band have announced local supports for their national 'Sunshine & Technology' Aug/ Sep tour. Commencing on Aug 17th in Hobart, the album launch tour also hits Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle, Sydney and Canberra.

The likes of Mindsnare, Stolen Youth, I Exist and The Hard Targets (a new Melb band featuring Nigel from Mindsnare) will be joinging Frenzal Rhomb on their upcoming run of dates.
