Gold Coast band ENTRAPMENT are set to release their debut 7inch "Tempers Flare" through Team Glasses and Loudmouth Records, so we caught up with singer Toby for a chat.
At what point did Entrapment form and how did it all come together?
Formed mid 2019. Frosh (drums) and Toby (vocals) had been friends for years and our previous bands played a lot of shows together. Our first guitarist Blake and Dennis (bass) climbed on board and we started writing. Sean (guitar) joined at the start of 2022
Would readers recognize the members from any other bands?
Bitter Lungs, Wretched, Valhalla Mist might ring some bells for people
In your own words how would you describe the sound of Entrapment?
We are a hardcore band. If you like the golden era of Australian hardcore there’s probably something for you in our songs
What bands are influencing the sound of Entrapment?
TUI, Backtrack, Mindsnare, Slayer, Drain, Madball
Is the band name inspired by the movie with Sean Connery?
No, that’s a happy accident

You have your debut 7inch “Tempers Flare” due out soon on Team Glasses Records / Loudmouth. Where and when was it recorded and how was the process?
Recorded summer 20/21 at Rock City Coomera. It was a pretty cruisy process. Honestly I can barely remember much of the specifics. It was a while ago now
Got a fave song on the release, why that one in particular?
I like trap is set. It’s short, quick, in one section of the song I spell the name of the band, in the other section I steal the entire gorilla biscuits verse from the song gorilla biscuits. I crossed out GB and replaced it with our name. Also, I feel these racing stripes are pretty sharp
What else is in store in the foreseeable future for Entrapment?
